Our Treatment Options & Technology at Dry Eye and Wellness, Sugar Land

IPL Treatment for Dry Eye

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy is an advanced treatment that’s designed to provide relief from the discomfort of dry eye syndrome.

It’s quick, non-invasive, pain-free and uses special light waves to gently heat the skin and unclog blocked meibomian glands. This encourages the glands to produce oils that lubricate the eyes and reduces inflammation and itchiness.

IPL’s benefits go beyond dry eye treatment – it can also be used to address skin conditions such as rosacea and redness caused by burst blood vessels. Our IPL machine is FDA-approved and we’re proud to have been the first in the world to use it at our practice.

Advantages:

  • Non-invasive
  • Painless, quick, and easy
  • Only 3 recovery sessions scheduled in 45 days
  • Up to 3 years of long-lasting relief

IPL therapy uses the power of specific wavelengths of light to work magic on stubborn meibomian glands, tackling their dysfunction head-on. Our friendly eye doctor will guide you through a series of short 15-minute sessions, spread over a 16-week period. It’s a breeze — and before you know it, you’ll be enjoying the noticeable relief you’ll get from dry eye!

LipiFlow Treatment for Dry Eye

Blocked meibomian glands are the main cause of dry eye. LipiFlow takes as little as 12 minutes to work its magic, using clean and disposable activators that deliver therapeutic energy to the eyes. This stimulates the meibomian glands to release oils that keep the eyes lubricated.

Blephex Treatment for Dry Eye

Blepharitis is an eye condition that causes the oil glands to become clogged or infected, leading to inflammation. BlephEx works in just 10-15 minutes to target the root causes of eyelid inflammation and involves using a gentle spinning sponge to offer up to 4 months of relief.

omega quant

Omega Quant Treatment for Dry Eye

Our Omega-3 Index test scans the levels of Omega-3s in your body to see if you lack any. These fatty acids are important for keeping your eyes lubricated and reducing the risk of eye diseases such as dry eye and macular degeneration. But it doesn’t stop there – they also support healthy brain and eye development during pregnancy and infancy, ensuring a bright future for children.

5M Treatment for Dry Eye

In just 60 seconds, the advanced and non-invasive Oculus Keratograph 5M allows us to screen the quality, quantity, and gland structure of your tear film.

Meibomian Gland Imaging:

The Meibo-Scan feature is sort of like having a special camera that captures the meibomian glands and allows us to see if they’re working properly. This helps us develop effective treatments and create a path towards your recovery.

TF-Scan:

This feature uses special lighting techniques to capture detailed images of your tear film, making it easy for us to see how healthy the oils that make up your tears are.

R-Scan:

Designed to make eye assessments a breeze, this innovative tool detects the blood vessels in the conjunctiva, the transparent layer of tissue that covers the front surface of the eye. It makes it quick and easy to check how red these blood vessels are.

tear lab

Tear Osmolarity Treatment for Dry Eye

Did you know that electrolytes, proteins, and other substances found in tears need to be balanced so your eye surface can be healthy?

To check the balance of these substances, scientifically known as osmolarity, we use the TearLab Osmolarity System. It allows us to analyze tear samples collected from the edge of your eyelids so we can better understand your tear health and create a treatment plan that gives you long-lasting relief from dry eye.
