Take Charge of your child's eye health

Say Hello to Myopia Care

What is Myopia?

Nearsightedness, also known as myopia, occurs when your child’s eyes grow too long from the front to the back. This causes him/her to strain and squint to see things clearly.

It means more than just stronger, thicker glasses. Myopia can get worse as kids grow, increasing the risk of serious eye diseases like glaucoma, cataracts, and retinal detachment.

Why Does Myopia Matter?

  • All Children Should be Monitored
  • A growing global Epidemic
  • Chronic & Progressive disease.

Put your child on the path to better eye health

Early detection and intervention is the key to slow or stop the progression of myopia.

What all parents should look out for:

  • Eye strain or pain
  • Frequent headaches
  • Squinting to see more clearer
  • Poor academic performance
  • Short attention span
  • Blurry distant vision
  • Sitting close to the TV, computer, and reading material

Myopia significantly increases your child's risk for serious eye conditions

The younger your child develops myopia, the higher the risk of eye diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, and retinal detachment in their lifetime.

What is Myopia and What Causes it?

Increased Screen Time

Children spending 7+ hours a week on digital devices face 3x the risk of developing myopia.

Myopic Parents

There’s a 50% chance your child will develop myopia if both parents are myopic – 25% if one parent is myopic.

Myopia at a young age

The younger your child develops myopia, the greater the risk fo serious eye conditions.

Our Myopia Treatments designed for KIDS

Dry Eye & Wellness Center uses the highest level of technology to customize your child’s treatment plan. Care plans may include doctor-designed overnight vision correction lenses or specialized eye drops.

Data from our current patients at the Dry Eye & Wellness Center are showing over a 75% decrease in the progression of myopia compared to no treatment.

Overnight Vision Retainers

6 years and up

Custom-designed vision retainers are lenses designed for children to wear at night only. These are put in before bed and taken out in the morning. These lenses comfortably reshape the front survey of the eye and provide 2 benefits: Reduction of myopia progression + All day Vision Correction.

These lenses stay at home, so there is little risk of losing them. Your glasses may find their way to a drawer at home because your child will be seeing without them during the day.

This care plan is particularly beneficial to children who are involved in sports and other activities.

Daytime Soft Contact Lenses

8 years and up

These custom lenses are designed to be placed in the eye in the morning and removed in the evening. These lenses have a special design to reduce the progression of myopia while allowing clear vision throughout the day. This allows the child to be free from glasses during their activities.

Prescription Eye Drops

3 years and up

An alternative treatment is a specialized prescription eye drops at specific concentrations to reduce the progression of myopia. At your initial visit, the case history, scans of the eye, and overall prescription will allow the doctor to customize the medication concentration for your child and will regularly monitor or change doses depending on the stability and eye growth over time. This treatment is a great option for families who may not be sure if their child is ready for lenses or if the child is under the age of 5 years.
